The Note.

date. 2020

“Enshrouded in loneliness, one cannot help but hesitate if going to an international university during COVID-19 was a good idea. Desperate to break down the walls made out of masks and plexiglass that separate people, he confides his silent complaint to a book. A note never to be found. Until one day, he suddenly receives a response.”

An award-winning short film created to the occasion of 24 Frames 2020 competition as a reaction to the life-changing situation COVID-19 has brought to us. The Note narrates the story of Jiahui, a freshman student full of expectations towards his new college life filled with new experiences and friends. Faced with the harsh reality the pandemic has put in place, Jiahui finds it harder than ever to connect with anyone else over the impenetrable barrier made of face masks and Plexiglas.

The Note is the result of a collaboration with fellow NYU Shanghai members Yutan Zhang, Yiliang Ge, and Ruijun Zhang.
