The Silk Road.
date. 2021
Inspired by historical events and the Chinese philosophy of the “Art of War” written by Sunzi in the 5th century BC, The Silk Road race is an indie game designed as a final project for the Creative Game Design and Development class at NYU Shanghai. It is a multiplayer game that mixes RPG, strategy, and card game elements, while taking the players on a historically accurate and compelling journey. Each player (up to 3 players) gets to pick a character with different abilities. These characters work together in trading elements, such as the silk, gems, and spice and moving through the silk road in order to collect three objects needed to save the world from the expanding desert. In order to win, each character has a different set of talents that come with a different method of play.
